Planned activities in Georgia

Our Superintendent is planning for all children to walk. Transportation Department will stop buses at designated places and children will walk from there. Children who are in carpools will also have designated places. We are a rural community and most of our students are bused in. I have made plans with United Health Care. For a "bike rodeo" on Sept. 22 at the Union Point school. Also, Union Point has an annual event, Union Junction Jamboree. We plan to have a "bike rodeo" event that morning.

Cheatham Hill Elementary is a neighborhood school, yet only a handful of the surrounding neighborhoods have sidewalk access to the school. Thus we get great support from the Cobb County Police Dept. in order to make our streets and bridges safe for kids and parents to participate. We promote the event via flyers, posters, morning announcements and celebrate on event day with a special area on the playground for walking participants.
