Meet Our 2010 Walk to School Promotional Partner: Green Works®

National Center for Safe Routes to School
Green Works

The National Center for Safe Routes to School has formed a promotional partnership with the makers of Green Works® to encourage families to get outside this October to walk, bike and wheel to school together.

About the Promotional Partnership

The National Center for Safe Routes to School serves as the national coordinating agency for Walk to School Day activities in the U.S. and strives each year to increase event participation and registration. The makers of Green Works® are getting involved in Walk to School Day 2010 as a part of the company's ongoing effort to support families who want to adopt greener lifestyles.

The overall goals of this 2010 Walk to School Day promotional partnership are:

The promotional partnership will help promote Walk to School Day in the U.S. in several ways, including:
short-term national media relations support communicating Walk to School Day/Month events and messages, placement of a Walk to School-themed advertorial in two national magazines, and the creation of a Walk to School competition on Facebook, Walk to School Challenge www.facebook.com/greenworks.

The Walk to School Challenge competition will award five $5,000 grants to local schools to support “eco-upgrades” on campus and enable a new way to register Walk to School Day events on the www.walktoschool.org website via Facebook. The National Center is not involved in running Walk to School Challenge, but is excited about the program and the potential reach via Facebook.
